Steve's Mobile Music was founded in July of 2000 when Steve, having helped organize school dances at his small southwest-Iowa high school, saw an opportunity to provide a vastly superior service--and have a lot of fun in the process. From humble beginnings buying a sound system on his mom's credit card and utilizing the employee discount at his summer job to buy steel pipe to make lighting tripods (more like boat anchors), Steve's Mobile Music has grown to a two-system operation performing at roughly 50 events each year.

Steve has spoken about his company at the 2004 Collegiate Entrepreneur's Iowa Conference, an ISU Entrepreneur Club meeting (an organization he is now president of), and the Iowa Association of Business and Industry's "Business Horizons" camp. Steve has a deep interest in entrepreneurship of all types, and enjoys learning from successful business owners as well as sharing his story and experiences with others.

So what does the future hold? With Steve set to graduate from Iowa State in May (Electrical Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneuerial Studies), a lot of things are uncertain, but DJing is not a business one gives up easily! Expansion plans are underway in a variety of areas (especially bigscreen video dance services), and DJing as a full-time career as a DJ at some point is definitely not out of the question.
