Steve Saltzman

Steve founded Steve's Mobile Music in July 2000. After helping organize school dances at his small southwest Iowa high school, he saw an opportunity to provide a vastly superior service--and have a lot of fun in the process. From humble beginnings buying a sound system on his mom's credit card, Steve's Mobile Music has grown to what it is today.
Steve has spoken about his company at the 2004-2006 Collegiate Entrepreneur's Iowa Conferences, ISU Entrepreneur Club events, and the Iowa Association of Business and Industry's "Business Horizons" camp. Steve has great interest in entrepreneurship of all types, and enjoys learning from successful business owners as well as sharing his story and experiences with others. He was president of the ISU Entrepreneur Club for the 2004-05 year, and in April 2005 was selected as the third place Global Student Entrepreneur Award winner in the Northern US Region.
Originally hailing from Lenox, Iowa, Steve is a 2005 graduate of Iowa State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and minor in Entreprenurial Studies. Following graduation Steve worked full time in the engineering field for about two years--doing electronics R&D, techinical sales, and embedded systems programming. From 2007 to 2016 he pursued Steve's Mobile Music on a full-time basis, though he continued doing some contract engineering work during slower seasons and helped out on his family's farm in southwest Iowa. In 2016, Steve took over primary responsibility for farming operations from his parents, and is currently splitting his time between farming and overseeing DJ operations at Steve's Mobile Music. In his free time Steve enjoys traveling and all sorts of outdoor activities. He is an avid bicyclist, typically putting on 1000-2000 miles annually, and also does quite a bit of hiking, camping, and canoeing/kayaking in conjunction with travels.
